Eine Forschungsrakete wurde 14 mal erfolgreich gestartet. Wie groß ist die Wahrscheinlichkeit, dass der nächste Start auch erfolgreich verläuft? Ausgestattet mit dem Wissen des Grundstudiums sagt jeder Student hoffentlich 1, denn das ist der Schätzwert, den der Maximal-Likelihood-Schätzer (solche geniessen hohes Ansehen) abliefern würden. Dem gesunden Alltagsverstand sträuben sich bei dieser Antwort die Haare. "nobody is perfect" gilt auch für Raketen, also widerspricht die Antwort jeder Erfahrung.
Was lernen wir draus? Es besteht Bedarf an einer Statistikveranstaltung nach den Statistikvorlesungen des Grundstudiums. Mit dieser Vorlesung wird er gedeckt, natürlich wird auch die obige recht unbefriedigende Antwort in angemessener Weise "korriegiert"
