In Anlehnung an das "Haus des Lernens" der Bildungskommission NRW (1995) hat Klupsch-Sahlmann (1995) das Haus der Bewegten Schule entwickelt. Damit wird Bewegung als wesentlich für die Entwicklung und das Lernen von Kindern und Jugendlichen bestimmt. Schulische Bewegungsangebote sollen deshalb nicht auf den Sportunterricht beschränkt bleiben. Sie sollen vielmehr beim Klassenunterricht ebenso berücksichtigt werden wie bei der Gestaltung des Schulhofs oder der Unterrichtspausen.
Das Seminar beschäftigt sich mit den theoretischen Grundlagen einer Bewegten Schule sowie deren Realisierungsmöglichkeiten. Hierzu werden neuere Evaluationsstudien ebenso herangezogen wie eigene unterrichtspraktische Erfahrungen.
