Die Domestikation von Tieren ist ein vom Menschen gelenkter Prozeß. Welche Probleme mit derartiger "künstlicher Selektion" verbunden sind, zeigt die aktuelle, sehr kontroverse Diskussion um sogenannte Kampfhunde. Das Seminar soll anhand wissenschaftlicher Originalarbeiten verschiedenste Aspekte der Do-mestikation von Hund und Katze beleuchten. Angefangen bei der Biologie der wilden Arten, über die Genetik von Selektionslinien bzw. Rassen bis zur Verhaltensinteraktion zwischen Haustier und Mensch zielt das Se-minar darauf ab, den Prozeß und die Folgen der Domestikation am Beispiel des Haushundes und der Haus-katze zu erörtern.
