In the late eighteenth century, Romanticism became one of the most influencial movements of art, literature and philosophy in Western Europe. This seminar seeks to explore its most central concepts such as the relationship between human and nature, social as well as scientific developments, individuality and emotion. We will investigate key authors and texts from that period in British (literary) history to develop a deeper understanding of its depth of influence and legacy.
The reading list will be announced shortly. Most primary and secondary reading material will be made available via Lernraum.
