Mit Bildhauerbeitel und Klüpfel, oder mit Dechsel, Axt und Carvingsäge wollen wir aus einem Stück Stamm eine Form nach unseren Vorstellungen schaffen. Figürlich oder abstrakt werden wir unseren Ideen im Stamm Ausdruck verleihen.
Die Carvingsäge ist eine Kettensäge, die mit einem besonderen Schwert ausgerüstet ist, das zur Spitze verjüngend zuläuft. Hierdurch wird punktgenaues Arbeiten am Holz mit kleinen Radien ermöglicht. Beitel und Küpfel sind die klassischen Bildhauerwerkzeuge. Von feinen Kerbschnitzwerkzeugen für filigrane Arbeiten bis zu 60 – 70 mm breiten Beiteln zum Glätten größerer Flächen und zum kraftvollen Abtragen von Holz haben hier alle Werkzeuge Sinn und Berechtigung.
Vermittelt werden die grundlegenden Techniken bildhauerischen Arbeitens. Bei diesen subtraktiven Verfahren der Holzbearbeitung ist der sachgerechte und sichere Umgang mit Material und Werkzeug ebenso wichtig wie eine planvolle, strukturierte Herangehensweise.
Nicht nur der der Erfolg beim Erlernen der Techniken ist hier wichtig. Für Freude sorgen sinnliche Erfahrungen im Umgang mit dem Material Holz. Die besondere Haptik, der Geruch und die Struktur des Materials lassen uns Natur, Kraft und Festigkeit ebenso erleben wie Wärme und Nachgiebigkeit.

Die Veranstaltung ist nur für Fachstudierende im Lehramt Kunst und im kleinen Nebenfach Ästhetische Bildung geöffnet.
