Die Akkulturationsforschung beschäftigt sich mit der Frage, wie Menschen neue kulturelle Umwelten aneignen. Integration ist ein Modus der Aneignung, der im Besonderen für die pädagogische Praxis wichtig ist. Integration ist nach theoretisch und empirisch relevanten Kriterien aber weniger klar, als wir vielleicht denken. Das Seminar wird grundlegende Theorien der Akkulturation aneignen, sich mit der Frage beschäftigen, wie sich Individuen und Gruppen in einer kulturell neuen Umwelt infolge von Flucht, Migration oder Wohnortwechsel integrieren und welche pädagogischen Hilfen angeboten werden können. Vorraussetzung für die Teilnahme sind: 1. Regelmäßige Teilnahme; 2. Übernahme eines Referates bzw. Gruppeninputs; 3. aktive Teilnahme an AGs im Seminar; 4. Interesse und Spaß an empirischer Forschung.
