Reflexivity as a key term in qualitative research
This course provides methodological assistance for developing the participants’ individual research projects. Reflexivity is suggested an important analytical ressource in qualitative research. We will discuss different theoretical notions of reflexivity, although we primarily will explore its meanings and analytical potentials through the discussion of each participant’s doctoral study. The course is structured by way of following the course and
steps of a qualitative study, i.e.: access to the field, data
collection, data processing and so on. Participants will be invited to
make contributions to the seminar according to the respective stage of
their own empirical study.
There will be one preliminary meeting during summer term on June 12th, 2-4pm. The ensuing compact seminar will take place on July 12th-14th. Required readings and further information will be circulated by email to those who are inscribed.
Please note that you are requested to send me a brief outline of your ongoing work (one page) via email until May 21th, including questions or problems you would like to address in the course.
The language of
the seminar will be a mixture of German and English, depending on the participant’s preferences.
