230318 British and American Children's Fiction (S) (SoSe 2024)

Contents, comment

In this seminar students will get to know and analyze literary texts for young readers. We will examine the historical development of British and American Children’s fiction, identify central themes and take a closer look at certain genres and texts. Students – a lot of them being aspiring teachers - will learn why it is important to analyze literary texts before they can use them in class. In this regard, students build up and practice the analytical skills required to choose appropriate children’s fiction for the classroom.
