In diesem Kurs sollen die Studierenden am Beispiel der gemeinsamen Lektüre der zweiten Regierungsabhandlung von John Locke mit den Zielen und den Methoden bekannt gemacht werden, die bei der Interpretation philosophischer Texte wichtig sind. Geübt werden soll dabei auch das Ordnen und Zusammenfassen von ganzen Gedankengängen, das Klären offener Interpretationsfragen und die kritische Auseinandersetzung mit dem Text.
Für eine Leistungsbescheinigung (im BA-Studiengang) wird die Erarbeitung von mindestens vier kürzeren Texten, die individuell besprochen und diskutiert werden, erwartet.

Es wird empfohlen, sich die von Walter Euchner bei Suhrkamp herausgegebene Übersetzung der "Zwei Abhandlungen über die Regierung" zuzulegen.
