Das Seminar Lehrer*innenhandeln orientiert sich in seiner thematischen Struktur besonders an den Bildungsstandards für Bildungswissenschaften (KMK). Dabei werden insbesondere die Kompetenzbereiche Erziehen, Unterrichten und Beraten beleuchtet und auch in ihrem Konnex berücksichtigt. Ein besonderer Fokus liegt dabei auf der auch kritisch-reflexiven Auseinandersetzung mit dem Arbeitsfeld Schule und Rollenerwartungen, die an Lehrkräfte herangetragen werden, mit eigenen sozialisationsbedingt entstandenen Einstellungen und Deutungsmustern in ihrer Bedeutung für das eigene kommunikative und didaktische Handeln als Lehrkraft sowie mit für die Akteure nicht bzw. nur bedingt transparenten Lernzielen, zu deren Verfolgung Schule bzw. Unterricht im Rahmen ihrer gesellschaftlichen Einbettung beitragen und die in ihrem Verhältnis zu offiziellen Bildungs- und Erziehungszielen betrachtet werden. Merkmal des Seminars ist darüber hinaus eine gute Portion Praxisorientierung, die sich unter anderem in der Behandlung verbaler und nonverbaler Kommunikation, in der interaktiven Sitzungsgestaltung durch die Studierenden und in der Behandlung des Themas Beratung ausdrückt.
