Die Schriftlingusitik beschäftigt sich mit der Art und Weise, wie Sprache in einem graphischen Medium repräsentiert wird. Keineswegs ist es so, dass immer nur einfach Laute Buchstaben zugeordnet werden. Vielmehr können Schriftzeichen unterschiedliche lautliche Aspekte (z.B. auch Silben) darstellen, aber auch grammatische oder inhaltliche Informationen enthalten. In dem Seminar werden wir uns damit beschäftigen, wie sich Schriftsysteme entwickelt haben (diachrone Perspektive) und welche Vielfalt von Schriftsystemen heute existiert (synchron-typologische Perspektive). Die Arbeit des Seminars besteht insbesondere darin, unterschiedliche Schriftsysteme der Vergangenheit und Gegenwart zu untersuchen. Dabei sollen auch Fragen zum Schriftspracherwerb und Rechtschreibunterricht diskutiert werden.
