Das Seminar beschäftigt sich vor allem mit den Disziplinen Phonetik/Phonologie und Morphologie.
In der Phonologie stehen die Laute als Einheiten im System einer Sprache im Vordergrund, während der Grundgegenstand der Phonetik die Beschreibung und physikalische Messung der Laute unabhängig von ihrem Sprachsystem ist.
Die Morphologie befaßt sich mit dem Aufbau von Wörtern und Wortformen. Dabei soll das Seminar einen Überblick über verschiedene Teilbereiche der Morphologie (Flexion, Derivation, Konversion und Komposition) geben und auch morphologische Termini wie z.B. Affix und Morphem klären, die bei einer Analyse der Wortstruktur entscheidend sind.
In welcher Form ein Leistungsnachweis erworben werden kann, wird in der ersten Seminarsitzung bekanntgegeben.
