Im Rahmen des Seminars werden die erlernten Inhalte aus der Vorlesung Statistik auf eigene Fragestellungen angewendet und die bereits erworbenen Kenntnisse im Bereich quantitative Methoden vertieft. Spezifische Verfahren der Analyse univariater Verteilungen aber auch multivariate Zusammenhänge (beispielsweise Faktorenanalyse, Regressionsanalysen) werden mit einem thematischen Fokus auf Fragen sozialer Ungleichheit behandelt. Dabei wird ein besonderer Schwerpunkt auf die Geschlechterdimension gelegt. Als Analysesoftware wird Stata verwendet.
Studienleistungen können durch wöchentliche Übungsaufgaben sowie Präsentationen (Inputreferate oder Darstellung eigener Ergebnisse) erbracht werden. Die Prüfungsleistung besteht in einem Forschungsbericht.

Das Seminar richtet sich an Studierende im Bachelor, welche das Modul „30-M2: Methoden der empirischen Sozialforschung (Grundlagen)“ erfolgreich abgeschlossen haben. Erwünscht, aber nicht notwendig, sind zusätzlich Grundkenntnisse in Stata.
