„Gestalten, die in neue Körper verwandelt werden“, so kündigt Ovid gleich im Proömium das Thema seiner Metamorphosen an, das in chronologischer Reihenfolge die gesamte Weltgeschichte umfassen soll, vom Anfang der Welt bis hinein in Ovids Zeit, die mithilfe des Mythos erklärt wird. In diesem Seminar werden wir uns, ausgehend von einer Definition des Begriffs Mythos und seiner Quellen, mit der römischen Mythologie anhand ausgewählter Metamorphosen beschäftigen und verschiedene Formen ihrer Rezeption kennenlernen.
