Medialität und Geschlecht lassen sich nicht trennen. Geschlecht ist nichts, was unabhängig von Medien existierte, es muss performativ, in Bildern und Geschichten inszeniert und erzählt, von Apparaten und in Gefügen hervorgebracht werden. Zugleich sind Medien aber auch nicht von Geschlecht zu trennen. Sie tragen nicht nur zu seiner Reproduktion bei, sondern die Art und Weise ihres Gebrauchs, ihrer Genres, Formate und Blickregimes sind selbst vergeschlechtlicht. Vielleicht ist die Frage des Medialen, des Vermittelnden, des Zwischen aber eben auch eine Möglichkeit, „um zu einer anderen Vorstellung des Geschlechts zu gelangen“ (Theresa de Lauretis). Dieser Spur wollen wir in diesem Seminar anhand einiger grundlegender queer-feministischer Texte zum Zusammenhang von Medialität und Geschlecht folgen.
