„Behinderung“ ist ein Begriff, der trotz scheinbarer Eindeutigkeit kontrovers diskutiert wird. Damit einher gingen und gehen auch immer Auseinandersetzungen um die Zuschreibung von Betroffenheit. Behinderung steht somit zwischen fixer Kategorisierung und sozialer Konstruktion.
Im Seminar werden wir über den Begriff Behinderung und die seit 1900 als behindert bezeichneten Personen bzw. Schülerinnen und Schüler sprechen. Dabei betrachten wir verschiedene gesellschaftliche Bereiche, legen den Fokus aber auf das Schulsystem und die historische Entwicklung der Heil- und Sonderpädagogik als Teil des Bildungswesens. Unter anderem werden empirische Daten und rechtliche Vorgaben herangezogen sowie theoretische Ansätze zur Erklärung besprochen und die Positionen vor dem Hintergrund der dominanten Diskurse und Machtstrukturen verortet.
