Martin Luther hat insbesondere durch seine Übersetzungen einen wichtigen Beitrag zur Entstehung der neuhochdeutschen Schriftsprache geleistet. In dem Seminar soll untersucht werden, wie die sprachliche Situation bis zur Lutherzeit aussah und nach welchen Normvorstellungen Luther seine Texte ausrichtete. Dabei soll der luthersche Beitrag auch zu anderen Faktoren des Sprachwandels in Beziehung gesetzt werden. Weiterhin soll herausgearbeitet werden, in welchen Schritten die allmähliche Durchsetzung einer einheitlichen sprachlichen Norm für das Neuhochdeutsche erfolgte.
