Die Studiengruppe wird sich mit den Arbeiten des französischen Philosophen Michel Foucault (1926-1984) beschäftigen. Dabei soll vor allem sein 1966 erschienenes Buch "Die Ordnung der Dinge. Eine Archäologie der Humanwissenschaften" im Vordergrund stehen. Foucault versucht ausgehend von der Renaissance bis hin zur Moderne die grundlegenden Ordnungsschemata ("Episteme") dieser Wissenschaften zu rekonstruieren. Die Studiengruppe bietet die Möglichkeit, sich Foucaults Thesen anzueignen, sie zu diskutieren und generell nach der Bedeutung von Wissen für soziologische Beschreibungen zu fragen.
Es ist möglich, einen Schein in der Studiengruppe zu erwerben.
