392144 Case studies in algorithmic stochastics in (bio)informatics (S) (SoSe 2014)

Contents, comment

The seminar builds on the `Algorithmic stochastics in
(bio)informatics' lecture course
in the winter term 2013/14 and discusses concrete applications of
simulation methods
in bioinformatics, such as the use of Markov chain Monte Carlo in
sequence analysis,
or the construction of hidden Markov models for gene finding. If
possible, the seminar
will be in the form of a `reading course', that is, all participants
read the underlying
literature and discuss it in the seminar.

Student information

The binding module descriptions contain further information, including specifications on the "types of assignments" students need to complete. In cases where a module description mentions more than one kind of assignment, the respective member of the teaching staff will decide which task(s) they assign the students.
