The seminar is obligatory part of the final module of HEPS/ISoS. Students present ideas for their master’s thesis and discuss them in an interdisciplinary forum. These ideas can be presented at different stages of their elaboration, ranging from sketchy drafts to more detailed studies. At the early preparatory stage, the seminar can even assist students in identifying a topic for their thesis in the first place.
Master colloquium: Participants submit a paper elaborating their ideas for their master’s thesis, or of some parts, which will be discussed in the colloquium.
The papers must be distributed at least one week in advance, a short version is presented for 10 minutes maximum, and it is commented upon by another participant for 5 minutes in the colloquium. A general debate of 30 minutes follows so that the entire slot adds up to 45 minutes. Each participant needs to submit and present and paper and to comment upon a paper submitted by another student.
