___________________Warum übersehen RadiologInnen auf manchen Röntgenaufnahmen Tumore obwohl diese eigentlich sichtbar gewesen wären? Warum erkennt das Flughafenpersonal gelegentlich gefährliche Gegenstände auf dem Scan des Handgepäcks obwohl diese direkt angeschaut wurden? Und warum übersehen relativ viele Personen in Laborexperimenten einen Gorilla, der auffällig durch eine betrachtete Szene läuft? Modelle zur visuellen Wahrnehmung geben bereits Hinweise auf situative Faktoren, welche solche Übersehensfehler erklären können. Bislang ist jedoch wenig darüber bekannt, inwiefern bestimmte Persönlichkeiten mehr oder weniger zu Übersehensfehlern neigen.
In diesem Seminar betrachten wir bisherige Forschung zu Übersehensfehlern und disktutieren methodische Herausforderungen, die sich bei deren Erforschung ergeben. Was erschwert insbesondere das Erzeugen von Übersehensfehlern unter Laborbedingungen, so dass deren Bezug zur Persönlichkeit untersucht werden kann?
Insgesamt wird der inhaltliche Fokus auf das Zusammentreffen von Persönlichkeitspsychologie und (visueller) Wahrnehmungspsychologie liegen.

Spezielle inhaltliche Vorkenntnisse werden nicht vorausgesetzt. Gute Englischkenntnisse für das Vorbereiten der Primärliteratur werden vorausgesetzt.
