Ungeachtet des säkularen Anstiegs und Bedeutungsgewinns qualifizierter Frauenarbeit in fast allen Gesellschaften Europas sind Einkommen und Aufstiegschancen zwischen den Geschlechtern ungleich verteilt. Bei allen Indikatoren zeigen sich allerdings erhebliche Unterschiede zwischen den europäischen Wohlfahrtsstaaten, die sowohl auf die jeweilige kulturelle Tradition wie auch auf wohlfahrtsstaatliche Regulierungen zurück geführt werden. In dem Seminar werden hierzu die neueren vergleichenden Studien als auch die theoretischen Erklärungsansätze behandelt.
