Eine immer größer werdende Minderheit von Kindern und Jugendlichen wächst unter Lebensbedingungen auf, die als belastend gelten.
Seelische und körperliche Unterversorgung sind für sie alltägliche Erfahrung.
Unter dem Aspekt der zu erfüllenden Entwicklungsaufgaben in einer sich verändernden Kindheit und Jugend werden Belastungsfaktoren, auch anhand von Fallbeispielen betrachtet und Folgerungen, insbesondere für die schulische Betreuung dieser Kinder und Jugendlichen aufgezeigt.
Positive Entwicklungsfaktroen, in der Resilienzforschung beschrieben, werden dabei berücksichtigt.

Kenntnisse in der Entwiclungspsychologie und Sozialisation von Kindern und Jugendlichen werden vorausgesetzt.
