Im Rahmen dieses Seminars wird die Geschichte dieser Sonderschulform als Teil des Schulsystems inhaltlich erarbeitet und kritisch reflektiert, Dabei werden die Vorläufer der staatlichen Schule (heute: "Förderschule mit dem Förderschwerpunkt Emotionale und Soziale Entwicklung -FS ESE"- Rettungsanstalten, Erziehungsheime etc., sowie Beschreibungen des Klientels in den Blick genommen und vergleichend diskutiert.
Für die Aktive Teilnahme wird die regelmäßige verbindliche Teilnahme an den Seminarsitzungen, die selbstständige Erarbeitung eines kleineren Subthemas (Zeit wird gegeben) und ggf. die Präsentation desselben erwartet.
Es können 15 benotete EL im Rahmen des VK (siehe eKVV) angeboten werden. Dieses kann in einem Referat mit Ausarbeitung wie auch in einer Hausarbeit umgesetzt werden (nach Kapazität).
