Die christliche Prägung Europas hat maßgeblich im Mittelalter stattgefunden. Das ist diejenige Epoche, in der sich das Christentum durchsetzt und zum bestimmenden, alle Lebensbereiche erfassenden Phänomen wird. Das Modul will in diese uns fremd anmutenden Vorstellungswelten einführen, indem es die alltäglichen Praktiken mittelalterlicher Frömmigkeit wie Pilgerfahrten, religiöse Feste, Heilgenverehrung oder Predigten in den Blick nimmt. Das Modul, das in Vorbereitung auf die Bachelorarbeit das eigenständige wissenschaftliche Arbeiten in den Mittelpunkt stellt, ist dabei so konzipiert, das Seminar und Übung beide belegt werden müssen.
