230528 A Survey of British Literature (S) (WiSe 2006/2007)

Contents, comment

This class is part of BA Basic Module 3 and will be taught in English. It will offer a survey of British literature beginning with Elizabethan drama (William Shakespeare's /Hamlet/), moving on to Romantic poetry (late 18th and early 19th centuries) and ending with a contemporary novel (Ian McEwan, Atonement; for details see below).

I strongly advise students to read Hamlet before term starts.

Students can get three credits points for active participation in class work and for passing the end-of-term written exam.

Please note: this course can only be done together with my course Analysing and Interpreting Literary Texts, course no 230 526.
