This is an intensive Course, from 21 February to 4 March 2005, 9-12.15, 13.30-15. 00 (= 4 SWS) for BA's in the Profilphase; MA, SI/SII students in Hauptstudium.

Interested students are asked to register in person with me in my office in the next few weeks, the deadline being 19 January 2005.
Contents:
Four major and three minor themes will be examined using primary (historical, literary) and secondary texts, films and TV programmes, amongst them the recent BBC Scotland series "Writing Scotland".
The four major themes are: Scottish nationalism - From the Wars of Independence to Devolution; culture, education and religion; romance, the Highlands and the House of Stewart; and the Islands, while a minor focus will be on the three major Scottish cities, Edinburgh, Glasgow and Aberdeen. A reader with texts for the historical part of class will be available.

Credits and Requirements:
BA-Students can earn three credit points for active class work and a book report, which is to be discussed with, and handed in to, me before class starts on 21 February.
