This course, part of "Basis Modul 4" of the B.A degree, will provide an introduction to post-WWII Britain. Students will learn about British politeness, how to analyse a text and distinguish between important and unimportant aspects, and get basic surveys of the politics and social geography of Britain in the first few sessions.
Student members will work in groups on some of the most important aspects of British life, such as the economy, social structure, social welfare and social policy, including education, the environment and transport policies, customs, the English language, the arts, social attitudes and the unity of the United Kingdom.
Students can earn three credit points for class work and passing the written examination on 7 February 2005.
