232003 How to Make a Dictionary (S) (SoSe 2011)

Contents, comment

In this course (part of Basismodul 2 “Essentials of English Linguistics”) we will be looking chiefly at the vocabulary of English, but from the point of view of some of the things you need to know in order to write a dictionary. This will start with a look at some current dictionaries and how they are structured and will cover the central areas of word formation, lexicography, and semantics.

Requirements for participation, required level

HTMD is a required class in BM2. It is not planned to offer HTMD again after the summer term as the content of this class is differently covered in the new modules, which will be in effect for students beginning in WS 2011-12.
