Unter der "Informationsstruktur" einer Äußerung versteht man in erster Linie die je nach Kontext unterschiedliche Aufteilung des betreffenden Satzes in einen informativen Teil (Fokus, Rhema, neue Information, Antwort auf eine Frage) und den Teil, der im Wesentlichen die Verbindung zum vorherigen Diskurs darstellt (Hintergrund, Topik, Thema). Diese Untergliederung hat Auswirkungen auf die Art und Weise, wie das sprachliche Material eines Satzes syntaktisch (Reihenfolge der Konstituenten) und prosodisch (Akzentsetzung) realisiert wird. In diesem Kurs werden grundlegende Konzepte der Informationsstruktur und der Intonation / Prosodie vermittelt. Des Weiteren analysieren wir Äußerungen innerhalb von tatsächlichen Texten und Dialogen, um zu verstehen, was informationsstrukturelle Begriffe wie beispielsweise "gegebene Information" und "Kontrast" konkret bedeuten.
