In diesem Modul erhalten die Studierenden einen Einblick in aktuelle Themen der kognitiven Neurowissenschaften. Dabei werden ihnen zuerst die experimentellen Methoden der kognitiven Neurowissenschaften vermittelt. In Kleingruppen werden sie dann eigenständig wissenschaftliche Fragestellungen zu den neuronalen Verarbeitungsmechanismen kognitiver Prozesse erarbeiten. Ein Schwerpunkt dabei wird die multisensorische Wahrnehmung und die Interaktion von Wahrnehmungs- und Handlungsabläufen darstellen. Dabei spielen höhere kognitive Funktionen wie Lernen, Aufmerksamkeit und Navigation/Orientierung eine zentrale Rolle. Die wissenschaftlichen Fragestellungen werden während des Moduls experimentell untersucht und quantitativ analysiert. Neben der thematischen Einführung in das Gebiet der kognitiven Neurowissenschaften ist eins der Hauptziele dieses Moduls, die wissenschaftliche Arbeitsweise von der Entwicklung der Fragestellung über die Durchführung von Experimenten bis hin zur Präsentation in mündlicher oder schriftlicher Form zu erlernen.
