Das Seminar führt in grundlegende Modelle der statistischen und klinischen Diagnostik ein. Die im wesentlichen von Meehl (1954) ausgelöste Kontroverse (klinische versus statistische Urteilsbildung) soll anhand klassischer Studien diskutiert werden. Die Beschäftigung mit neueren Arbeiten soll über den derzeitigen Forschungsstand informieren und zu einer kritischen Bewertung der aktuellen Befundlage führen. Verschiedene Strategien zur Optimierung von Verhaltensvorhersagen werden besprochen. Die Auseinandersetzung mit der historischen Debatte dient dem Ziel der vertieften Auseinandersetzung mit den grundlegenden Aufgaben, Methoden und Problemen der diagnostischen Urteilsbildung.
