This Methods Class is part of the graduate training program of the Leibniz-ScienceCampus " Regional Development Dynamics and their Social, Economic, and Political Consequences", SOEP RegioHub at Bielefeld University (SOEP-RegioHub), see https://lsc-soep-regiohub.com/. In addition, the class is open to PhD students of the BGHS and BiGSEM Graduate Schools at Bielefeld University.

The methods class focuses on a) geospatial information available with SOEP survey data, b) how to combine SOEP data with external regional indicators, and c) methods to analyze geospatial properties of SOEP households. R & RStudio will be used for practical applications and exercises.

(Preliminary) Syllabus:

Day 1
- 10:00 - 11:00: Teaching Server Setup + Intro Teaching Dataset & SOEP Regional Data
- 11:00 - 11:15: Coffee Break
- 11:15 - 12:30: Wrap-up Geospatial Data (Analysis)
- 12:30 - 13:30: Lunch
- 13:30 - 15:00: Hands-on Session 1: Combining SOEP with Regional Data
- 15:00 - 15:30: Coffee Break
- 15:30 - 17:00: Hands-on Session 2: Analyzing Regionalized SOEP Data

Day 2
- 09:00 - 10:30: Paper Replication
- 10:30 - 11:00: Coffee Break
- 11:00 - 12:30: Interactive Maps with Shiny (Use Case: LSC Research & Topics)
