In Naturwissenschaft und Technik fallen heute immer größere Datenmengen an, die für den Menschen aufgrund ihrer Größe und Komplexität nicht mehr ohne
weiteres interpretierbar sind. In der Vorlesung "Datamining I" werden Verfahren eingeführt, die Strukturen auch in hochdimensionalen Daten aufspüren und
der menschlichen Vorstellung zugänglich machen können. Nach einer Einführung in das Arbeitsgebiet und einer kurzen Darstellung der ungewohnten
Eigenschaften hochdimensionaler Räume beginnt die Vorlesung mit Verfahren zur Dimensionsreduktion, Clusteralgorithmen und multidimensionaler
Skalierung. Daran schließen sich Kapitel zur automatischen Modellextraktion und zum Design von Klassifikatoren, wobei auch neuronale Netze zum
Einsatz kommen. Ein weiterer Schwerpunkt wird auf Visualisierungstechniken liegen, die eine anschauliche Dateninterpretation ermöglichen.
