Medienbildung und Medienerziehung machen es sich zur Aufgabe, den Heranwachsenden zu stärken und fördern, so dass er Anforderungen und Herausforderungen in einer Mediengesellschaft selbstbewusst annehmen kann. Dabei kommt der Institution Schule eine besondere Rolle zu. Um subjektive Mediennutzungsformen zu reflektieren und die alltäglichen Nutzungsformen im Sinne individueller Bedürfnisse und gesellschaftlicher Teilhabe zu erweitern, kann schulische Medienbildung einen zentralen Erfahrungsraum bereitstellen. Darüber hinaus besitzen insbesondere digitale Medien wie der Computer und das Tablet vielfältige Möglichkeiten um schulische Lernsettings zu unterstützen. Im Seminar werden sowohl auf theoretischer als auch auf praktischer Ebene beide Dimensionen thematisiert und bearbeitet.
Die Studienleistung kann über eine Gruppenarbeit, in welcher eine Unterrichtseinheit konzipiert werden soll, erworben werden. Eine (un)benotete Einzelleistung kann in Form eines Referates oder einer Hausarbeit erbracht werden.
