Medienpädagogik in der Institution Schule ist sehr facettenreich. Neben dem Einsatz von Medien in Lehr-Lern-Prozessen, gilt es den Schülerinnen und Schülern Gelegenheiten zur Aneignung von Medienkompetenz bereitzustellen. Ziele der Veranstaltung sind eine Begriffsklärung und einen Überblick über das breite Spektrum medienpädagogischer Arbeit in der Schule und Anregungen für das eigene pädagogische Handeln zu geben.

Aus diesem Grund ist das Seminar in drei Bausteine gegliedert:
1. Zunächst sollen Grundbegriffe und Merkmale schulischer Medienpädagogik vorgestellt werden. Dabei richtet sich der Fokus auf unterschiedliche Funktionen von Medien im Kontext Schule.
2. Ein Blick in die Praxis anhand ausgewählter Modelle soll verdeutlichen, wie gelungene Medienpädagogik in der Schule aussehen kann.
3. Die Studierenden haben im Rahmen des Seminars die Aufgabe, medienpädagogischer Ansätze zu erarbeiten und zu präsentieren.
