230247 Um 1500: Unheimliche Räume im frühen Roman (S) (SoSe 2024)

Die sprichwörtliche ›Leiche im Keller‹ steht für die semantische Codierung häuslicher Räume. Der Moderne gilt der Keller als Innenraum der Irrationalität: Dunkelheit, Geheimnis, Angst haben hier ihren Ort. ›Heimliches‹ und ›Unheimliches‹ rücken im Raum des eigenen Heimes ganz nah zusammen. Diese kulturelle Raumsymbolik, so die These des Seminars, geht auf eine im Spätmittelalter beginnende Veränderung von Raumsemantiken zurück, die sich auf spezifische Art und Weise im frühneuzeitlichen Erzählen um 1500 manifestiert. Im Zuge einer Dynamisierung von Innen- und Außenverhältnissen wird in Romanen des 15. und 16. Jahrhunderts der Innenraum zunehmend als Ort der Handlung entdeckt. Er wird zum Schauplatz verschiedenartiger Heimlichkeiten, welche die Figuren in ihrer Existenz und Identität bedrohen, damit zur Chiffre ihrer eigenen ambivalenten Geheimnisse. Im Blick auf eine Poetik des Innenraumes für Mittelalter und Frühe Neuzeit werden wir u.a. die ‘Melusine’ Thürings von Ringoltingen, den ‘Fortunatus’ sowie Jörg Wickrams ‘Von guten und bösen Nachbarn’ analysieren und mittels eines kulturell kontextualisierten close reading die oben entworfene These diskutieren.
