300016 Social Studies of Valuation (S) (SoSe 2015)

Contents, comment

Over the course of the last decade, investigations into the social foundations of values and valuations have brought about a wealth of empirical findings and theoretical reflections. Scholars from economic sociology, sociological theory, organization studies, science and technology studies, social studies of finance and accounting, and the sociology of culture have been converging on what is now increasingly recognized as the field of valuation studies. The seminar will explore this emerging field of research and sociological theorizing by discussing a selection of recent journal articles.
An extended list of readings will be provided at the beginning of the term but participants are encouraged to bring along their own wish list.
