In dieser Veranstaltung werden grundlegende mathematische Modelle der Biologie behandelt. Einige Themen fallen in den Kernbereich der Genomforschung (wie das Luria-Delbrück-Experiment, der Koaleszenzprozess, der Mutationsprozess der Phylogenie und der TDT-Test), andere schlagen die Brücke zur Biophysik (das Hudgkin-Huxley-Modell für das Aktionspotential) und Biochemie (Aktivator-Inhibitor-Modelle der Musterbildung). Die verwendeten mathematischen Methoden sind Stochastik, Statistik, Differentialgleichungen, diskrete Mathematik und Geometrie. Diese Methoden werden -- zugeschnitten auf das jeweilige Thema -- wiederholt und ergänzt.

Die Veranstaltung wird (von eventuellen Ausnahmen abgesehen) in Praesenz im `flipped classroom'-Format stattfinden, dh wir werden Ihnen rechtzeitig Lehrmaterial (Skriptkapitel) zur Verfuegung stellen, das Sie *vor* dem Termin durcharbeiten. Die Info dazu erhalten Sie ab Freitag, 5. April, per email. Zu den Kurs (= `VL')-Zeiten werden Sie in kleinen Gruppen Ihre Fragen zum Skript sammeln und diskutieren. Anschließend gehen wir im Plenum das Skript im Detail durch, wobei die Beantwortung der gesammelten Fragen eine wichtige Rolle spielt.
Ihre eigene aktive und selbststaendige Rolle bei der Vorbereitung ist das A und O für das Gelingen der Veranstaltung und Ihren eigenen Lernerfolg!
Der erste Termin ist Donnerstag , 11.4., 16:15-17:45. An diesem ersten Termin findet nur der Kurs statt, dh 90 min. anstelle (wie in den folgen Wochen) 45 min. Kurs und anschliessend Übung. Der erste Uebungstermin ist Donnerstag 18.4.
