This course offers an introduction to key concepts, methods, authors, periods and fields of research in American literary studies. Special emphasis is given to the analysis and theory of poetry, drama and narrative prose as major genres in the respective literary periods. It is the aim of this course to provide a sound basis for textual analysis and research in seminars and independent study.
