Die Wahl der Methoden ist mitentscheidend, wie Inhalte und Ziele im Unterricht erarbeitet werden. Aufgabe der Religionslehrer/innen ist es deshalb auch, sich ein vielfältiges Methodenrepertoire zu erarbeiten. Dabei vermitteln die zahlreichen aktuellen Veröffentlichungen zur Methodenkompetenz im Religionsunterricht oftmals den Eindruck, die Unterrichtenden bräuchten sich nur aus einer "Trickkiste" bedienen.
Doch ist mit Methodenkompetenz mehr als eine Addition abrufbarer Arbeits- und Verfahrenstechniken gemeint. Schüler und Schülerinnen müssen Methodenkompetenz erwerben, die Selbstständigkeit und Selbsttätigkeit in den Lernfeldern des RU ermöglicht.
Im Seminar sollen bewährte und neue methodische Zugriffe ausprobiert und erörtert werden, um von da aus das Rollenverständnis der Lehrkraft und den Anspruch des Faches zu reflektieren.
