230442 How to Make a Dictionary (S) (WiSe 2010/2011)

Contents, comment

This seminar observes the field of lexicography from different perspectives.

Our principal questions are: ‘What are words?’, ‘How can they be described?’, ‘What is a dictionary and how can it be compiled?’ ‘What are the aims of dictionaries’? Furthermore, we will delve into the history of lexicography from the beginnings to modern methods of corpus lexicography. There will be ample opportunity to work with different dictionaries and language data.
