Der Begriff 'Renaissance' ist ein schillernder. Mit ihm sind Vorstellungen von Modernisierung und einer westlichen Moderne verbunden. Klassischerweise wird der Begriff mit dem Italien des 15. und 16. Jahrhunderts in Verbindung gebracht. Doch bereits seit fast einhundert Jahren wird auch über eine "Renaissance des 12. Jahrhunderts" diskutiert.
Über eben diesen Ansatz wollen wir sprechen -- auch über seine Aktualität. Erscheinen solche Großnarrative noch sinnvoll? Auf welche Phänomene des 12. Jahrhunderts bezieht sich diese Lesart und folgen wir ihr? Aber auch: Welches Selbstverständnis als Historiker*innen zeigt eine solche Diskussion?Diese historische Kontextualisierung findet in Ergänzung zum Seminar "220059 Selbstzeugnisse des 12. Jahrhunderts" statt. Bitte nehmen Sie an beiden Veranstaltungen teil.

Erfolgreicher Abschluss der Grundmodule (22-1.1 oder 22-1.1_a sowie 22-1.2_a oder 22-1.2_b) sowie Erfüllung der epochen- und themenspezifischen Sprachvoraussetzungen. Für dieses Seminar ist die Bereitschaft erforderlich, sich mit mittellateinischen Quellen auseinanderzusetzen.
