Für die empirisch-quantitative Beschreibung eng begrenzter
Einzelaspekte eines Forschungsthemas und die Beobachtung einfacher
Zusammenhänge reichen bisweilen deskriptive statistische
Auswertungsverfahren wie z.B. Häufigkeitsauszählungen, Mittelwerte und
Kreuztabellen. Demgegenüber kommen multivariate Analyseverfahren immer dann
zum Einsatz, wenn komplexere empirische und theoretische Beziehungen
untersucht werden sollen. Mit ihrer Hilfe kann es gelingen, unbekannte
Strukturen in den analysierten Daten zu entdecken bzw. theoretisch vermutete
Strukturen hypothesengeleitet zu überprüfen.
In diesem Seminar sollen verschiedene multivariate Verfahren
(Faktorenanalyse, Varianzanalyse, Regressionsanalyse, Diskriminanzanalyse,
Clusteranalyse) vorgestellt und anhand aktueller Daten angewendet werden. Im
Mittelpunkt stehen dabei die praktische Anwendung der Verfahren, ihre
Möglichkeiten und Voraussetzungen sowie die Interpretation von
Auswertungsergebnissen. Die mathematischen Grundlagen werden nur soweit dies
zum Verständnis notwendig ist betrachtet.
