Inventar un cosmos habitado por animales fantásticos es, desde siempre, una de las actividades poéticas y artísticas que mejor se presta a la transgresión lúdica de los códigos estéticos y morales circundantes. Escogeremos, de las múltiples "zoologías fantásticas" procedentes de las diversas áreas de la cultura hispánica en el mundo, un famoso ejemplar de la brillante fabulación hispano-árabe de al-Andalus, Calila y Dimna, y dos de las obras más destacadas de la creatividad lúdica (irónica, satírica) en la América hispánica de nuestros días: El libro de los seres imaginarios del escritor argentino Jorge Luis Borges, y la serie de gouaches surrealistas del artista zapoteca de Oaxaca (México) Francisco Toledo, titulada Zoología fantástica. (Por su extraordinario compromiso a favor de la educación de la población indígena de su región, este último, el enfant terrible de la escena artística oficial del México de hoy, acaba de recibir el Premio Nobel alternativo.)
Un brillante investigador de la Scuola Normale Superiore di Pisa, el Dr. Luca D'Ascia, está invitado a intervenir en el marco de este seminario con una serie de lecciones sobre temas afines del área artística y literaria italiana e hispánica.Obras para consultar, si posible ya antes del comienzo del seminario:
