This seminar is intended for those intending to teach at primary (Grundschule) level; we will examine and experiment with methods and approaches suited to the teaching of English as a foreign language to young learners.
The seminar will take place in hybrid format - in the classroom and simultaneously via Zoom.
Please note that students who started their degrees in or after 2023, or for some other reason are studying in the NEW FSB, have to have passed the Language Proficiency Test before taking Profile Module 1 seminars.
PM1 courses should generally only be taken after most of the basic modules (BM seminars) have been completed. It is recommended in the Modulhandbuch that they are taken from the 3rd semester of study on. The binding module descriptions contain further information, including specifications on the "types of assignments" students need to complete. In cases where a module description mentions more than one kind of assignment, the respective member of the teaching staff will decide which task(s) they assign the students.
All participants will be required to take part in a presentation, the major part of which will consist of a microteaching sequence. Apart from that, everyone will be expected to do the reading assigned every week and come to class with questions related to the reading for that session". Participation in the student-generated Methods Challenge (not for marks, just for glory) near the end of the semester is required.
