Die Romane des 15. und 16. Jahrhunderts lösen sich von der, für mittelalterliche Romane üblichen Versform und werden daher als 'Prosaromane' bezeichnet. Im Seminar werden anhand der 'Melusine', des 'Fortunatus' und der 'Historia von Dr. Johann Fausten' die Merkmale dieser Gattung thematisiert.

Die 'Melusine' Thürings von Ringoltingen erzählt die Geschichte der gleichnamigen Wasserfee und ihrer Familie, der 'Fortunatus' beschreibt die Abenteuer des, von Fortuna beschenkten Helden während die 'Historia von Doktor Johann Fausten' vom Leben und Sterben des legendären Teufelsbündners berichtet.
