Wie sieht Arbeit in einer kapitalistischen Gesellschaft aus? Das Seminar verbindet aktuelle arbeitssoziologische Diskussionen mit der Frage einer kapitalistischen Gesellschaft. Zur Diskussion wird gestellt, inwiefern wir von einem „flexiblen Kapitalismus“ (Sennett) sprechen können und welche Bedeutung dieser für die Form der Arbeitsorganisation, der Frage der Anerkennung sowie der Anforderungen der Beschäftigten haben kann. Sowohl Chancen (z. B. für Karrieren) als auch Risiken (z. B. Tendenzen der Prekarisierung) werden herausgearbeitet und anhand von Beispielen veranschaulicht.
Geplant sind insbesondere interaktive Arbeitsformen wie Gruppenarbeiten und Diskussionen.
Um eine Theorie-Praxis-Reflexion zu ermöglichen ist eine Exkursion in ein Unternehmen geplant.

Wünschenswert sind Vorkenntnisse im Bereich der Arbeits- und Wirtschaftssoziologie.

Die Seminarliteratur wird im Stud.IP elektronisch zur Verfügung gestellt. Zusätzlich wird ein Semesterapparat eingerichtet.

Erwartet wird die regelmäßige und aktive Teilnahme an der Veranstaltung, die die Anfertigung von Aufgaben zu Übungszwecken, der aktiven Teilnahme an Gruppenarbeiten und Diskussionen sowie die vorbereitende Lektüre von Texten einschließt (inkl. der Fähigkeit Inputreferate zu den Texten und aktuellen Beispielen zu geben).
Eine benotete Einzelleistung kann in Form eines Referats mit Moderation der Sitzung oder durch eine Hausarbeit erbracht werden.
