Effi Briest zählt zu den bedeutendsten Werken des späten 19. Jahrhunderts und wird als Gesellschaftsroman und als Teil des poetischen Realismus definiert. In diesem Seminar setzen wir uns auf Basis dieses zentralen Textes mit Themen, Motiven und Symbolen des deutschen Realismus und des Gesellschaftsromans auseinander. Das Close Reading des Romans wird durch digitale Tools und Methoden ergänzt, die das Lesen und Verstehen von komplexen literarischen Texten erleichtern. Anschließend werden wir auch digitale Werkzeuge erproben, die das wissenschaftliche Recherchieren und Schreiben unterstützen.
Voraussetzung ist die Bereitschaft, sich mit einfachen Methoden der computergestützten Literaturwissenschaft vertraut zu machen. Vorkenntnisse in Programmierung oder Digital Humanities sind nicht erforderlich.
