220017 Sich Papyri als Quellengrundlage erschließen: Das römische Ägypten (S) (WiSe 2019/2020)

Griechische Papyri bieten detaillierte Einblicke in die Sozial- und Wirtschaftsgeschichte des römischen Ägypten. Nirgendswo sonst in der griechisch-römischen Welt liegt so eine Fülle an dokumentarischen Texten vor. Anhand von Verträgen, Briefen oder Inventarlisten lässt sich die Lebenswelt der Dorf- und Stadtbewohner nachvollziehen. Hier können Fragen an das Quellenmaterial gestellt werden, die für andere Gegenden des Imperium Romanum nicht beantwortbar sind: Das Themenspektrum reicht von den sozialen Beziehungen innerhalb der Dorfgemeinschaft, über die Organisation der Kanalarbeiten oder Eheverträgen bis hin zu magischen Ritualen. Die Veranstaltung möchte daher in die Papyrologie und den Umgang mit dieser Quellengattung einführen.
